Thursday 9 February is National Pizza Day. đÂ
Thatâs right! Our all-time favourite, deliciously cheesy food has its own special day, as it should.Â
And even if you donât have the opportunity to eat some pizza today, you can still celebrate by learning about five of the most mouth-watering pizza records around the world.Â
This record is a huge deal⌠Literally! đÂ
Famous YouTuber Airrack and Pizza Hut came together to create the worldâs largest pizza, which measures 1,296.722 square metres (13,957.799 square feet).Â
The result was more than 68,000 slices of yummy pizza.Â
How many would you eat?Â
If you thought the largest pizza was jaw-dropping, how about the worldâs longest pizza that is as long as 18 football fields in a row?! đ¤ŻÂ
It measures 1,930.39 metres (6,333 ft 3.60 in) and was achieved by 13 different pizza shops and a team of over 100 people over the course of 54 hours.Â
In the end though, it was all worth it. â¨Â
This might sound cheesy, but we think this record is really grate (see what we did there?).đÂ
When French cheese-lover BenoĂŽt Bruel discovered this record, he decided he just had to break it.Â
After all, "weâre in the country of cheese!" he said.Â
254 varieties of cheese later, he finally did it! đ§
Pizza Hut reached new heights of success when a few of its employees hiked to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro where they shared a pepperoni pizza at 5,897 metres (19,341 ft)!Â
It took four days for the pizza to travel from the restaurant to the top of the highest mountain in all of Africa. â°ď¸Â
When a professional competitive speed eater and multiple Guinness World Records title holder puts his mind into breaking his own record⌠there isnât much you can do to stop him.đÂ
That is how Peter Czerwinski (also known as âFurious Peteâ) won against two challengers, managing to eat a whole 12 inch pizza with a knife and fork, in just 32.28 seconds!Â
However, one year laterâŚÂ
Kelvin Medina broke Furious Peteâs record with an incredible 23.62 seconds. đŻÂ
* This record is for professional speed eaters only and you should NOT try this at home.*Â
What toppings do you like on your pizza?Â
Are you a classic Margherita type of person, or more of an adventurous, multiple-toppings pizza fan?Â
