With hundreds of brand new records in it, it really feels like a breath of fresh... hair! 🤪
Craig Glenday, the book’s Editor-in-Chief, shared some of his favourite new hairy record holders...
Largest Afro
Let's start with 14-year-old Amir Manuel Menendez from California, USA, who has the world’s largest afro on a living male, even though he is still only a teenager. 🤯
At 19.67 cm (7.74 in) high and 24.83 cm (9.77 in) wide, his hair is ginormous and FABULOUS!
Amir has been growing out his hair for around 4.5 years. After noticing how fast his hair was growing, he decided to attempt the record!
Amir's advice to those wanting to attempt a similar record title, is to just “go for it.”
"If you get it, you get it. If you don’t, you don’t,” he explained. “What do you have to lose?”
He gets space in the book next to the women's record holder, Aevin Dugas of Louisiana, who sports an afro measuring 165 cm (5 ft 4.9 in). – Craig
Longest mullet
Craig then went on to tell us all about the world's longest competitive mullet (male): “I was thrilled to learn that there was an official Mullet World Championships held annually, so I got in touch to ask which entrants had offered up the longest mullets”.
Who knew there is an official global mullet competition?! 😝
The record went to "Big Rich" Price of Ohio, USA, with a stunning mullet that is 99.06 cm (3 ft 3 in) long.
But did you know that there is an even longer female mullet out there?
Tennessee’s Tami Manis achieved the longest competitive mullet (female) with her 172.72-cm (5-ft-8-in) long hair!
In fact, Tami has been growing her mullet for 33 years. 😮
Longest hair on a teenager
Another teenager with an iconic hair record is 15-year-old Sidakdeep Singh Chahal from Uttar Pradesh, India.
He has the longest hair on a male teenager, with his locks measuring 146 cm (4 ft 9.5 in)! 😮
Sidak explained the reason behind his record-breaking hair: “I’ve never had a haircut in my life, and that’s due to my religious beliefs. I practise Sikhism and we are forbidden from cutting our hair.”
And, even though many of his family and friends are Sikhs, Sidak has the longest hair of them all.
Longest moustache
The list wouldn't be complete without an awesome moustache record... Paul Slosar from USA has the world’s longest moustache on a living person. 🥸
Paul has been growing his hair for almost 30 years, and it measured 63.5 cm (2 ft 1 in) when he competed in the US National Beard and Moustache Championships!
And yes, there is a championship for that too. 🤣
This record category was redefined recently, in line with official international beard and moustache-growing rules for length, which insists that 'taches must be wetted and combed out straight before measuring. We met Paul through the US National Beard and Moustache Championships, which I was lucky enough to be invited to as a judge. The styles on offer were mindblowing! - Craig
