Would you like to be a teacher when you grow up?
At just 5 years and 337 days old, Pratyaksh Vijay has already secured his dream job. 🤓
In November of 2023, the young boy from India was verified as the world’s youngest yoga instructor (male) after completing the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher's Training Course.
200 hours, that sounds hard! 😮
But Pratyaksh assured us that he loved every second of it.
🔎 But what is yoga?
The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit language and it means “union”.
It is a 5,000-years-old form of exercise that combines stretching, breathing and relaxation of the mind.🧘
Sounds cool, right?
So how did he do it?
Now 6 and a half years old, Pratyaksh started learning yoga at the age of 4.
After a few months, seeing how much he loved it and encouraged by his mum and dad, he decided he wanted to take it one step further and become somewhat of an expert!
“I want to spread the knowledge of ancient yoga to the whole world so everyone can enjoy a healthy and tension-free life.”
In fact, according to Pratyaksh, “yoga itself is the best exercise but some of the best things in yoga are that it boosts flexibility, […] your energy levels and [helps your metabolism].”
He clearly loves yoga, but is he a good teacher?
“According to [my students], I am both vocal and demonstrative [as a teacher],” he told us.
“I want to make my students comfortable first”, he went on to explain, and he achieves that by first showing them the asana (yoga position), and then going closer to each one of them to correct or perfect their posture.
The best way to learn is by mixing what we read (theory) with what we do (practice) – it makes learning clearer and more fun, don’t you think? 😎
Okay, we can tell that Pratyaksh absolutely ROCKS as a teacher. 🤩
Who is the best teacher you've ever had?
If you are new to yoga and you think it sounds interesting, here is his advice:
“To people who are nervous and have never tried yoga before, I want to tell them: do not look at others, just start.”
But how does it feel to be a world record breaker?!
“I can’t express my feeling when I came to know that I got the record title,” Pratyaksh told us cheerfully.
Wouldn’t you be speechless if you heard that news? 🤯
Pratyaksh is very thankful to his mum. He told us: “I want to thank my mother for being my support system in every step of my yoga journey.”
He also thinks that his dad passed on to him some great advice that has been the secret of his success:
“My father advised me not to use smartphones and to avoid junk food. That helped me a lot to concentrate on my yoga goals!”
What would help YOU achieve all your goals? 🤔
Congratulations, Pratyaksh, and welcome to the Guinness World Records family!
