Published 8 December 2016

All over the world, people are getting ready for Christmas by decorating conifer trees in sparkly lights and ornaments.

The tradition can be traced all the way back to 15th century Germany, but now putting up a Christmas tree is a major part of the festive celebration for many people - but did you know they have their own holiday?

In the US, today marks National Christmas Tree Day.

Here are some of our favourite Christmas tree triumphs to celebrate the occasion:

1. Most expensive Christmas tree decorated

What makes this tree so pricey? It was covered in 181 items of valuable jewellery.
