Do you like books? 📚

Saeed, aged 4 years and 218 days, took his love for books to the next level, by writing his own story and becoming the world’s youngest person to publish a book!

His book, The Elephant Saeed and the Bear, is a story about kindness and an unexpected friendship between two animals. 🐘🧸

Saeed’s record title was verified on 9 March 2023.

The book was published by Rainbow Chimney Educational Aids in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and has already sold over 1,000 copies.

Saeed was actually inspired by his older sister AlDhabi.

She used to hold the record title for the world’s youngest person to publish a bilingual book (female) and, less than one year later, she broke the record for youngest person to publish a bilingual book series (female) at the age of 8 years and 239 days.

AlDhabi is a little girl with big dreams. ✨

That’s why she launched a unique initiative named Books from Children to Children, encouraging kids from 4-10 years old to write in Arabic or English so that the story, the drawings, the publishing process and even the final reader are all kids!

Saeed said: “I love my sister so much and I enjoy playing with her all the time! We read, write, draw and do so many activities together. I wrote my book [inspired by her] as I felt that I could have my own book too.”

Saeed explained the story of his book in a few words: “It is about the elephant Saeed and a polar bear. The elephant had a picnic and he saw a polar bear. He thought the bear was going to eat him but, in the end, the elephant showed kindness and said ‘let’s have a picnic together’! Then they became friends and showed kindness to each other.”

Writing a book is not an easy task, but it sure can be fun!

Saeed had the best time describing the characters of his story, as well as drawing them.

“The drawing was tricky and the polar bear looked scary at first, but it’s always fun to draw.”

His favourite part, however, was getting to read his story out loud to his mum, dad and all of his friends at school! 🤓

“I feel happy and proud that I did something nice like my sister AlDhabi! I love when my friends feel happy for me too.”

Real friends will always be happy for your successes. ❤️

You might be wondering… has Saeed’s life changed at all since becoming a published author?

“Yes! I love reading, writing and telling stories. Now I am writing my second book and I would like to do more and more because it’s nice to write books and let people read them to ‘build their mind’.”

When he grows up, Saeed wants to become a superhero and save the Earth! ✊

Other than reading and writing books, he also loves maths and he solves mathematical problems with his mum all the time.

Lastly, we asked Saeed if he is planning on breaking any other records in the future. His answer was…

“YES! It’s so exciting and I was really having fun on this one. I would love to have another record and I believe I can do it.”

That’s the spirit! 💪

So, what is Saeed up to now?

Well, recently Saeed and his sister AlDhabi started working on writing more books to show others that nothing is impossible and that age is not a limit.

As their parents told us: “Everybody is born with a talent and that talent cannot be known unless they discover it by trying things out.”

We can’t wait to see what else Saeed and his sister will try out!
