This pocket-sized Chihuahua is the world's shortest dog living!
Two-year-old Pearl from Orlando, Florida, USA is just 9.14 cm (3.59 in) tall and 12.7 cm (5.0 in) long when measured from her nose to her tail.
Which, by the way, is also the exact same length as the longest tongue on a living dog! 🐶
Little Pearl weighs less than a basketball.🏀
Despite her small size, according to her owner Vanessa, she is a huge diva!
“She has a very busy schedule and a true diva character,” Vanesa informed us.
Vanesa and her partner, Edwin, own several other dogs of "normal" sizes but, out of all the dogs, Pearl definitely receives the most attention.
In fact, she has not one, but two dedicated dog-sitters that cater to her many needs!
A day in Pearl's life
So what's a day in the life of a record-breaking dog like?
Pearl wakes up every day at 7 a.m. and she likes to pick out her own outfit! 👚
Then she goes on a short walk, during which she must be closely supervised at all times.
Pearl’s carers then feed her four times per day. Her favourite foods are salmon and chicken.
When she is at home, Pearl loves watching TV or listening to classical music. 🎶
She doesn't stay in for too long though, as she is taken out every two to three hours!
Pearl loves being the centre of attention.
“She likes to bark in front of the various cafes until they give her some cream. She is very intelligent and knows how to get noticed and get what she wants.” Vanesa explains.
Vanesa raises all of her dogs as siblings and, naturally, sometimes siblings fight. Pearl's small size doesn't stop her from standing up for herself like the strong, confident girl she is. 💪
Pearl is the niece of previous shortest dog living, Miracle Milly who was 9.65 cm (3.8 in) tall and also belonged to Vanesa!
Much like her aunt, Pearl is becoming quite famous and it seemed like she really enjoyed recently appearing in front of a live studio audience on the set of the Italian TV show Lo Show Dei Record.
Unusually for a Chihuahua, Pearl remained quite calm and commanded the stage effortlessly, just like a true superstar. 🤩
