Meet Salacnib “Sonny” Molina, the master collector!

Sonny has a dream: to collect more collection records than anyone else on the planet. And he’s off to a great start. 🤩

Check out some of his most unique and peculiar collections, and who knows, you might get inspired to start your own! 👀

Largest collection of Pringles tubes

Do you like the Pringles potato chips?

Sonny loves them – so much so that he owns the largest collection of Pringles tubes, with 629 at the last count!

“Growing up, [my mum] would buy me Pringles whenever I didn’t feel good or was sick,”  he told us.“I seemed to get better every time she brought me them!”.

His most precious tube?

It’s a yellow retro container for the “Rippled Style” of Pringles dating from the early 1980s… that’s about 40 years ago! 🤯

And his favourite flavour is “anything cheese”.

What’s your favourite potato chip flavour?

Largest collection of finger puppets

With a massive collection of 1,517 finger puppets, Salacnib has been making his fingers come to life since 2003 – 21 years ago! 😮

“I used my finger puppets to entertain our kids when they were little and they seemed to like it so much,” said Sonny.

How much did all these puppets cost him?

According to him, somewhere between $5,000 and $10,000 (£3,943-£7,887).

Some of Sonny’s oldest puppets are from the 1940s to 1970s – that’s over 60 years ago

So what’s Sonny’s advice to those wanting to start their own collection?

“Connect with other collectors and trade. You can also ask your families and friends to help you!

“If you have friends around the world, you can contact them and ask them if they can help you find things for your collection.”

Mugs, cups and beakers shaped like or printed with… skulls! Sonny owns 307 of them.

Do you think this is cool or frightening? 💀

Sonny’s advice to wannabe record breakers is:

“Always believe in yourself, even if no one else does. You and only you can prove to others that nothing is impossible if you put your mind and soul to it!

“And always be humble and kind.” ❤️

Now that’s one peculiar collection.

Sonny owns over 395 salt and pepper sachets, his favourite one being over 50 years old! 🤯

According to him, “Record breaking is addictive”

"When I see my certificates - they remind me that nothing in life is impossible."

We couldn’t agree more. 💪

Finally, Sonny also owns 1,043 leather postcards, collected from all over the world. 🌎

Have you ever travelled to another country or state? Did you get any souvenirs?

Sonny has always loved collecting things:

“These things all have sentimental value to me and remind me of my childhood: where I got them, or why, or the people who gave them to me.

“It’s my dream to have the most 'largest collections' records in the world, and house them in a museum where people – locals and tourists – can see them someday!”

We really hope Sonny’s dream comes true. 🙏🏽

Sonny’s running records

What may come as a surprise is that collecting isn’t Sonny’s only hobby.

He’s also a passionate runner, more particularly… a barefoot runner! 😮

Every day, he gets up and runs 3-6 miles on gravel trails and concrete paths, completely barefoot.

That’s how he achieved breaking multiple running records, such as:

  • Most consecutive days to run an official marathon barefoot (male) - 11 days
  • Farthest distance walking barefoot on LEGO bricks - 8,898.9 m (29,195 ft 10.39 in)
  • Most barefoot half marathons completed in one month (male) - 20

And in case you’re wondering…

Sonny holds a total of 17 world records! 🏆

Which, by the way, is just the beginning…

“My journey is just starting! I’ve got lots of other collecting records in the pipeline: fortune-cookie fortunes, chopsticks, finger skateboards, etc.

“And in the non-collecting categories, I’ll be breaking more barefoot distance records!”

Good luck, Sonny – we believe in you. 🤞
