Meet Peanut Butter (aka PB), a 4-year-old Shiba Inu from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. š
In 2020, he was adopted by Twitch streamer JSR, and has since accomplished something that no dog has ever done beforeā¦
He broke a speedrunning world record. š®
Such a good boy!
PB became the first dog to hold a speedrun record on 13 July 2023 by completing Nintendoās 1985 platformer Gyromite in just 25 minutes 29 seconds. š®
But how did he do it?
JSR told GWR: āThis took years of training.
āI wanted to train him to do something special, when I realized as a puppy that he was much smarter than most other dogs I've seen.ā š§
As a speedrunner himself, JSR decided the obvious option would be to share his skills with his beloved pooch.
So, he made a custom controller with big buttons and taught PB how to use it, frequently rewarding him with his favourite treats:
- String cheese š§
- Peanut butter (of course) š„
- Chicken š
Fun fact ā Peanut Butterās name might just sound like the food, but it also stands for the popular gaming abbreviation for āpersonal bestā, PB. š
During the record attempt, PB was entirely responsible for moving Gyromiteās main character, Professor Hector.Ā
JSR, who instructed PB through the game, described it as a ānearly PERFECT runā.Ā
āHe is the bestest boy, and he trains and works so hard for me!ā š
PB has also raised over $30,000 for charity with his speedrunning videos.
How cool is that? š¤©
When PB isnāt playing video games, he enjoys playing hide and seek, fetch, tug-of-war and catch.
The talented pup also loves receiving belly and back rubs from his human dad, who adopted him when he was only 4 months old. ā¤ļø
So cute!
Congratulations, Peanut Butter, you are Officially Amazing! š„³
