June 4 is Hug your Cat Day, our new favourite holiday. 🐾

If you have a cat, this is the purr-fect opportunity to give them some extra love, and even if you don't, we bet you'll love these fantastic felines anyway.

Read all about these amazing record-breaking cats and get ready for some cuteness overload. 😻

Tallest domestic cat

This is Fenrir the Savannah cat. 😺

At first sight, you might think that he’s a small panther or puma, but Fenrir is actually the world’s tallest living domestic cat, with a height of 47.83 cm (18.83 in).

Fenrir belongs to Will Powers, a doctor from Michigan, USA, and he actually works at his office as a therapy cat, providing comfort to patients!

Dr Powers described him as a "big lovable goofus".

Longest domestic cat

While Fenrir is the world’s tallest cat, he is not the longest; that title belongs to Barivel!

Measuring 120 cm (3 ft 11.2 in) in length, Barivel was confirmed in 2018 as the longest domestic cat living. 🙀

Despite his size, Barivel is actually a very quiet and shy cat. His name means ‘clown’ or ‘jolly’ in the local dialect of his hometown in Pavia, Italy.

Oldest cat living

In November 2022, just before turning 27 years old, Flossie officially received the Guinness World Records title of oldest living cat. 🐈

And, while Flossie might still look like a cute little kitty, being just as playful and cheerful, she’s really very old for a cat.

When she received her record title she was 26 years and 329 days old – which is approximately 120 in human years!

Flossie has a great character, being kind and cuddly, and "She never turns her nose up at the chance of a good meal," as her owner, Vicki, informed us.

Cat and dog who ride a scooter together

Cats and dogs are usually seen as opposites, even enemies – but for this record-breaking cat, there's nothing but unconditional love towards her dog best friend. 😽

Sashimi the cat and Lollipop the dog are an inseparable duo from Ontario, Canada, who set a world record for the fastest 5 m on a scooter by a dog and cat (pair).

Their time was an impressive 4.37 seconds!

Longest jump by a cat

This cat literally jumped at the opportunity of breaking a world record. 😹

In 2018, Waffle the Warrior Cat (yes, that’s his meow-some name) from California, USA, broke the record for the longest jump by a cat, making his family very proud.

His jump was 213.36 cm (7 ft) long!

Fun fact

Finally, here is a fun fact for you: did you know that domestic (house) cats share 95.6% of their genetics with tigers?

Basically, they are 95.6% tigers themselves!

If you liked these cats’ stories, go and give your cat, or your friend’s cat, a big squeeze! 😸
