Did you know that National Play Outside Day is celebrated on the first Saturday of each month?
With a ton of cool stuff being available inside (video games, TV, computers), it’s easy to get carried away and spend most of your time in the comfort of your home. 🏠
Distractions often keep us from spending any time at all outside in the fresh air, but that can be very unhealthy!
Playing outside is fun, creative, and a great way to spend some quality time with your friends, neighbours, or pet.
And if this all wasn’t enough to convince you to put down your electronic devices…
What if you could attempt breaking a world record? 👀

There is nothing better than spending a sunny day outside, playing with your pet in your home’s backyard or a nearby park!
With plenty of encouragement, treats and love, training your pet to do a trick is the perfect way to bond, spend quality time together…
…and, on occasion, even smash a record! 💪
For example, if you have a dog, you could teach him this fun jumping trick that gained little Daifuku a record title a few years ago – check it out here.
Another, more recently broken record, is for the most times to catch a flying disc (frisbee) over 10 m by a dog in three minutes.
Check out the video below and see if you and your four-legged friend can set a higher score.
Another fun activity to do outside, alone or with a friend! ⭕
Hula hooping helps connect your brain and body, so it’s a fun way to improve coordination while strengthening your muscles.
There are tons of hula hooping record titles you can attempt – get inspired by the young Chennai Hoopers who broke 9 records in one day! 🤯
Some of their records include the most hula hoop rotations around the arm in one minute (220) and the most hula hoop rotations around the shoulders in 30 seconds (53).
You can read the full story here.
Are you into sports?
Grabbing a football or basketball and going outside is all you need for a fun day enjoying the great outdoors! ⛹️
Start by testing your skills in kicking, bouncing and dribbling a ball…
See what you’re best at, then choose one of the record titles you will find here based on your strengths, and start practising.
Good luck. 😉
Oh, and if you thought ball-related records were only meant for boys… think again!
Check out Zaila’s story, who broke three records with her basketball skills when she was just 14 years old.
So, if you like the look of any of these activities, mark the first Saturday of every month on your calendar and…
Start practising to break a world record!
Or, you know, just have some fun playing with your friends. 🤪
