If you’re reading this story, chances are you are a gamer

But how good are you at Minecraft? 🎮

Daniel James, a teenager from Dover, Delaware, USA, just broke an epic Minecraft record, proving that he is not a casual gamer but a pro Minecrafter!

His record title is for the fastest time to make and eat three cakes in Minecraft, which he achieved in the remarkable time of just 33.47 seconds.

Daniel’s story is an inspiring one for any young people who wish to break a world record – so we asked him a few questions and here is what we found out. 👇

Daniel had wanted to break a world record ever since he was a little kid.

“I have always wanted to break a world record,” he explained. “I figured that since […] I played Minecraft almost every day (and still do!), I would try a Minecraft record.

“To prepare for the attempt, I learned more mechanics about the game, such as shift-clicking, and using the scroll wheel on my mouse to get items faster.

"The amount of practise I did was about 2 weeks, whereas the last few days I was practising at least 1.5 hours every day!”

This is what we call dedication. 💪

However, even for a dedicated gamer like him, breaking a record like this was no… piece of cake (get it? 🍰).

Check out his successful attempt here:

Daniel had to face a big challenge during his attempt: “Patience. Patience is something I really struggle with. […] It was difficult to stay focused and to keep practising to get better times.”

But, according to Daniel, it was all worth it in the end.

As he told us: “It feels AWESOME to have a World Record! I think the best part is the sense of accomplishment, knowing that after a year of trying out different records, I finally beat one and I know all my hard work paid off!”

What Daniel loves so much about Minecraft is that “there is always more to try out, and there are thousands of really fun Multi-Player Servers to try out.”

Gaming is not Daniel’s only hobby, though. He is also an avid chess player. ♟️

“I am on the website Chess.com every day, and I go to chess tournaments, usually a few hours away from my home.”

And, when he grows up, he wants to be a Meteorologist or a Storm Chaser… or both!

As for his journey of record breaking, he revealed that he is planning to attempt one more record: “Fastest time to craft five iron tools in Minecraft with a mouse and keyboard. After this one, I am going to be taking a break from attempting records.”

That we can understand – breaking records is no easy feat!

In fact, many pro gamers have attempted to break Minecraft-related world records…

Including Joseph Garrett, the gaming YouTuber behind Stampy Cat who is a legend in the Minecraft world.

In 2018, he broke the record for the fastest time to make and display 10 cakes in Minecraft (PC Edition), with a time of 3 minutes 51 seconds.
