2024 has been a big year in the world of record breaking! 🤩
As the year comes to an end, let’s take a look back at some of our most popular records…
At the very start of the year, Macie Davis-Southerland from California, USA, proudly showed the world her longest arm hair. 🤯
Her hair was 18.40 cm (7.24 in) long… that’s about as long as a hot dog! 🌭
Macie only realized in high school that she had a long arm hair after someone pointed it out, and rather than plucking it, she decided to keep growing it until it she broke a world record with it.
Sometimes, the things we don’t like about us are the ones that make us stand out in the best way possible.
And in Nigeria, an art student named Chancellor Ahaghotu performed the longest painting marathon - he painted for 100 HOURS!
It takes patience to reach the top. 😉
In February, an American woman proved she had the largest tongue circumference (female).
Jenny DuVander’s tongue measured 13.25 cm (5.21 in) all the way around – that’s bigger than the height of a soda can. 👅
Her record, however, was broken later in the year by Ambra Collina from Italy, with a measurement of 13.83 cm (5.44 in).
Is your tongue big or small?
In March, an incredible Canadian grandmother-of-12 broke the record for longest time in an abdominal plank position (female).
DonnaJean Wilde held the position for 4 hours, 30 minutes and 11 seconds.
Wow! 🤯
Here’s another jaw-dropping fitness record…
In Japan, fitness fanatic Kenta Adachi took the record for most pull ups in 24 hours (male), with 8,940!
That record has since been broken by Doug "Censor" Martin (USA) with 9,250.
In Ghana, a little boy named Ace-Liam Nana Sam Ankrah became the world’s youngest male artist, at the age of just 1 year and 152 days.
How cool is that?!
Do you like art?
Do you have brothers or sisters?
6 sisters from Missouri, USA, broke the record for the highest combined age of 6 living siblings.
If you add the ages of all the Overall sisters - Norma, Lorene, Maxine, Doris, Margaret and Elma – it is 571 years and 293 days in total! 👵
Do you like tongue records? Here’s another one…
In the summer, a Texas woman took the record for widest tongue (female).
Brittany Lacayo’s tongue is 7.90 cm (3.11 in) wide – that’s wider than a hockey puck! 🏒
In September, we met Tomiko Itooka from Japan, who became the oldest living woman AND oldest living person in the world at 116 years and 116 days old.
How old is the oldest person in your life? Go and ask them if they have any cool stories to tell!
If you love animals, check out this record!
Dog lover Mitchell Rudy from Canada took a 38-strong pack of pooches for walkies to break the record for most dogs walked simultaneously by an individual.
It was all part of a charitable event to encourage more people to adopt dogs.
Do you own a pet? 🐶
In November we brought together the world’s tallest woman Rumeysa Gelgi (Türkiye) and shortest woman Jyoti Amge (India)!
They met in London and got to know each other better over afternoon tea. 🍵
It doesn’t get more iconic than this. 😌
Then, DonnaJean Wilde (Canada) was back for more record-breaking action…
This time, she broke the record for most push ups in one hour (female) with an impressive 1,575!
Even though December is not over yet, we’ve already seen some incredible record-breaking action.
UK brothers Owen and Conner Gray gave us a tour of their largest collection of Pokémon cards, which stands at a whopping 48,339 unique items. 😮
Do you collect anything?
And in Japan, a human-like robot created by Toyota Motor Corporation made a breathtaking basketball shot…
CUE6 performed the farthest basketball shot by a humanoid robot from a distance of 24.55 metres (80 ft 6 in)!
We can’t wait to see what 2025 will bring. ❤️
