Are chickens cool? 🐔

Creole definitely is – she is a world record breaker!

And why did the chicken cross the road?

To break a world record, of course!

Creole and Zoe, an expert chicken trainer, went to our Italian series Lo Show dei Record to showcase their skills and gain a Guinness World Records title.

Well, that definitely sounds cool. 😎

The record was for the fastest time to complete an agility course by a chicken, which Creole did in just 1 minute and 2 seconds!

Check out the attempt here. 👇

Zoe is quite experienced in what she does. She loves all birds and started training her pet pigeon when she was only 5 years old.

A couple of years later, she moved on to chickens who, according to her, are very smart birds.

Today, she trains chickens, falcons, canaries, pigeons and turkeys! 🐦

But which one is more difficult to train?

“With falcons it’s a little bit more dangerous, especially when they’re larger,” Zoe told us.

“But the hardest to train would be the canaries, because they’re more flighty and they’re really small, so if they get away outside you can’t call them back as easy.”

Zoe also shared some pieces of advice for anyone wanting to train a bird:

“[You need] treats obviously, because that’s their reward for going over jumps and tunnels and stuff.

“But you also have to be calm. Otherwise, if you’re running around crazy they’ll just start finding something else to do like, 'okay, whatever'.”

And what does Zoe do when she notices a chicken is feeling a bit stressed or anxious?

“Well, normally I try to end on a good note and then come back and do it again the next day. You have to finish with him [doing the trick], so that they remember that [the next day].”

According to her, it’s really important to be patient and calm with all animals, because if you’re calm, they’re calm and if you’re patient, they’re patient. 🙏

Agility courses are not the only thing Zoe teaches her ‘students’ to do – they also learn how to:

Zoe has some very interesting names for her chickens, such as Felan, Blackberry, Cinnamon Toast, Carnation, Milleford and Hillbilly Willy.

Do you have a pet? What’s their name?

When she grows up, Zoe wants to train animals who star in movies! 🎥

Chickens are truly interesting creatures and Zoe clearly has a real bond with them.

If we’ve learned one thing from Zoe’s story is the importance of staying calm – when you stay calm, others around you are likely to follow your lead.

You can find out more about the skills involved in Zoe’s record, and how she became the very best in the world through our series The One Thing on Da Vinci.

Congratulations, Zoe and Creole, you are Officially Amazing! 🥳
