Do you remember Rumeysa, the tallest woman IN THE ENTIRE WORLD? 🌎
It's been 10 years since she officially broke her first world record and, while she is celebrating this fabulous anniversary, 2 MORE record titles were added to her long list of achievements!
Rumeysa is from Türkiye, and she first entered the record books in 2014, when we unveiled her to the world as the tallest female teenager.
So all these years later, the 27-year-old, whose record-breaking height is caused by a very rare condition called Weaver syndrome, has just claimed her... 7th and 8th record titles!
They are:
Hard to believe?
Well don't take our word for it...
This is Rumeysa at the age of 1 MONTH! 🤯
Here's what she told us: “Over the last decade, I’ve had an incredible journey with Guinness World Records. I have had many opportunities to share my story and outlook, even in places I never dreamed of reaching.
“[...] I felt that I could turn my unique condition, which was seen like something very bad, into a blessing for myself.
“[...] I also became more confident than ever.”
Being unique can never be a bad thing. ❤️
But what other record titles did Rumeysa already hold?
As we know, she used to be the world's tallest teenager, but because of her age, she's not anymore.
Here are her other records:
But what's super cool about Rumeysa breaking the world record with her ears is that their size is something that many people have mocked her for throughout her life...
“My motivation for breaking this record is my ears are obviously large and this has unfortunately been one of the main things I’ve been bullied for throughout my entire life.
“I was even told to undergo cosmetic surgery to ‘fix’ my ears, even though I never needed to do it.
"So, I thought that it would be a very strong message to break another record with something I was previously mocked for."
We hear your message loud and clear, Rumeysa: be proud of who you are and embrace what makes you stand out!
💡 Fun fact: Rumeysa's large ears give her a hearing superpower! 🦸♀️
She explained:
“I have an impressive hearing ability. I can even hear people whispering in other rooms of the house.
“I’m serious! There are scientific explanations that have proven larger ears collect more sound waves and hear better."
When asked if she ever wishes she'd be born without the syndrome that made her super-tall, she said:
"[...] if I had not gone through all the challenges and was not who I am today, I wouldn’t be an 8-times Guinness World Records title holder now.
“So, believe it or not, I wouldn’t want to be any other way and my aim is to encourage everyone to feel happy in their own skin.”
Her last advice to everyone out there is:
"Don’t let others’ opinions make you feel upset about who you are."
Congratulations Rumeysa, we are proud of you! 🥹
