Did you know that International Cat Day takes place on 8 August every year?
Cat lovers unite! ❤️
So, how about we seize this purr-fect opportunity (get it? ha) to meet some of our record-breaking kitties?
Let the furry fun begin right meow… 🐈
Bella from UK knows how to make herself heard! 👂
The 14-year-old holds the world record for the loudest purr by a domestic cat (living), measuring 54.59 decibels.
That’s as noisy as a kettle boiling! 🫨
Bella’s owner, Nicole Spink, told us: “She purrs all day long! If there’s food around, or cuddles, she always purrs.”
William and Lauren Powers from USA are the proud owners of Altair Cygnus Powers, whose tail is a whopping 40.83 cm (16.07 in) long. 🐈⬛
But wait, Altair isn’t the only record holder in the family…
His brother, Fenrir Antares Powers, is the tallest domestic living cat, measuring 47.83 cm (18.83 in). 📏
Can you imagine how cool it would be to have a record-breaking pet (or 2)?
Anika Moritz from Austria and her cat Alexis are the ultimate dream team! 💗
At just 11 years of age, Anika began training Alexis and 8 years later, they smashed the record for the most tricks performed by a cat in 1 minute (26).
That’s about 1 trick every 2.3 seconds!
When Alexis isn’t wowing everyone with her skills, she’s all about those cosy cuddles. 🤗
The longest whisker on a cat measured 19 cm (7.5 in) – that’s equivalent to the average length of a human hand! ✋
This record belongs to a Maine Coon called Missi who lives in Finland with her owner Kaija Kyllönen.
Long-haired breeds like Maine Coons are known for having longer whiskers than shorter-haired cats. 🐱
Here are 3 fun facts about whiskers:
With the help of his owner Siew Lianchui, Malaysian moggy Bibi balanced an impressive 10 dice on 1 paw. 🎲
How many dice could you stack on your hand?
Italian serial record breaker Silvio Sabba assembled a tower of 23 when he achieved the most dice stacked on the back of the hand in 30 seconds.
Remember, with a positive cat-titude, anything is possible! 👏
