12-year-old Lachlan performed 187 pogo stick jumps in just 1 minute!
On Christmas Day 2023, Lachlan Racovalis from Australia was gifted a pogo stick and a copy of Guinness World Records 2024. ๐
Have you ever received an edition of GWR for Christmas?
When reading the book, Lachlan imagined how cool it would be to set a world record of his own. ๐
And just 5 months later, he made that dream a reality!

In just 60 seconds, he completed 187 jumps on his pogo stick.
That’s 1 jump every 0.32 seconds!
How impressive is that?! ๐ฎ

Lachlan first hopped on a pogo stick when he was 8 years old.
Thinking back to when he would borrow his brother’s rusty pogo stick, Lachlan told us: “I first used it just because it was there – so why not try it out? ๐ค
“I guess I liked it and continued using it because I was really good at it and liked jumping high while moving around.” ๐
Have you ever been on a pogo stick?

When Lachlan tested out his new pogo stick, he noticed it was a lot easier to use.
He asked his mum to look for kid-friendly pogo records online. ๐ป
After trying a few different options, he finally landed on the most pogo jumps in 1 minute (under 16s).
“I did well on my first try, [completing] 140 jumps,” Lachlan recalled. “My mum said she thought I’d be able to beat [the previous record] if I trained, so I decided to go for it.”
The mark to beat was 170, which was set by Sam Christenson from Canada in January 2024. ๐

Lachlan trained hard for months.
He would time himself to see how many jumps he could complete within 1 minute and spent many hours bouncing up and down his driveway. โฒ๏ธ
Lachlan successfully attempted the record on 1 June 2024 - the day of his 12th birthday party! ๐ฅณ
He said: “We did the record attempt first and then celebrated my birthday and achievement with a party at home.”
Sounds like such a fun day!

So, what’s the key to pogo stick jumping?
“You need really good balance and stamina because it can be exhausting,” Lachlan admitted. ๐ฅฑ
And if you want to reach those super speeds, the pogo pro recommends “doing really short jumps [and only] just leaving the ground”.

Not only did Lachlan break a record, but he also secured a coveted spot in Guinness World Records 2026, which is out later this month! ๐
“That was such an awesome surprise,” Lachlan shared. “I didn’t think my record or photo would actually be printed in the book!
“I can’t wait for it to come out,” he added. “My friends are already asking me to autograph their books when they get them!” ๐
If you would like to set a record and be in with the chance of appearing in an edition of Guinness World Records, here are Lachlan’s top tips…
- Test yourself often so you can see how you’re improving ๐
- Be persistent and don’t give up ๐
- Let your parents/guardians know how important it is to you because you’ll need their help. ๐ฉ๐ฆ

So, what’s next for the now 13-year-old?
“I might try to beat the adult record in the future.” ๐ฅ
The adult record of 266 jumps has remained unbroken since it was achieved by Tone Staubs in 2013! ๐ซจ
“Also, if my record gets broken, I’ll try to beat it,” he added. “I feel like I could do more than 187 jumps if I really pushed myself.”

When Lachlan isn’t jumping on his pogo stick, he has plenty of other hobbies he enjoys, including…
- Building LEGO® Technic™ sets ๐
- Playing Minecraft ๐ฎ
- Riding his BMX ๐ฒ
- Doing flips on the trampoline ๐คธโ๏ธ
- Going on long walks ๐๏ธ
