Jerry the clever sausage dog broke an awesome world record!

Jerry the dachshund has a very unique talent – he can take the caps off plastic bottles in record-breaking time!

The 4-year-old pooch, who lives in Texas, USA, with his owner Sathya Priya Easwaran, broke the record for most plastic bottle caps removed by a dog in one minute.

He managed 11, the clever sausage!

Oh, and he did the attempt on his 4th birthday – 22 June! 🥹

“There were no practice sessions at all,” Sathya told us. “This is an in-built quality that Jerry enjoys doing every time that we give him bottles. He just did it without any special practice.

“He is so focussed. He challenges himself and he can just nail it when a task is given to him.”

Wow, what a good boy!

So, how did it all start?

Well, Jerry’s passion for removing bottle caps started as a game but quickly turned into a passion and his favourite pastime.

Soon, his family started collecting as many bottles as possible to bring home for Jerry’s enjoyment. 😌

Sathya explained: “He just wants a lot of challenges, a lot of tasks to accomplish, it’s motivation for him and he keeps doing it non-stop.”

And you can clearly see just how pleased Jerry is, with him wagging his tail as everyone around him claps for him and cheers him on.

Do you have any pets? Can they do tricks?

Sathya said of him: “He’s very loyal, he’s very focussed.

“I always wanted to have a dog and from the day he was with us, he has been such a joy.”

Sathya also said: “This was a very special moment for us and especially because we were able to make this attempt on his 4th birthday.

“It’s not a dream that came true, but beyond that.”

Lastly, Jerry and Sathya want to spread a message to the world:
