He has the world's longest fingernails after growing them for 34 YEARS!

Meet Lưu Công Huyền, an amazing artist from Vietnam who has spent OVER 30 YEARS of his life growing out his fingernails! 😱
He now officially has the world’s longest fingernails on a pair of hands by a man with an unbelievable measurement of 594.45 cm (19 ft 6 in).
That's taller than a giraffe! 🦒
They were measured by the legendary Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday, who flew around the world to visit Mr Huyền in his home in Nam Định province, Vietnam, earlier this year.
WOW!
Hanging from each hand, his nails twist into amazing shapes. They are covered in bright splashes of paint from the colourful murals he creates on people’s houses!
He chose to grow them long 34 years ago, after deciding to follow his father’s path and become a shaman, a person who tells stories and shares wisdom in special ways.
Mr Huyền, who features in our book Guinness World Records 2026, believed that growing his fingernails would make him more powerful and effective in the role. 💪
In the end, he decided to become an artist instead since he loved painting so much…
But by the time he made that decision, he’d already grown his nails so he decided to keep going – he felt that they were so important that breaking or trimming them would make him ill!
Of course, it’s normal for them to break off from time to time and he has bits of them lying in a cabinet in his living room that he’s held on to, but those couldn’t count towards his final measurement total.
Craig told us: “Measuring Mr Huyền’s nails was no easy feat. We had to run a piece of string around every twist and turn on each nail, marking the length then comparing this against tape measure.”
When he was told he had officially broken the record, he was super happy!
All his loved ones who had been watching the measurements take place started clapping and everyone was so proud of him. 👏
Growing your fingernails to this kind of length is a huge commitment, and people living with nails like this often have to make big changes to the way they live their lives.
Thankfully Mr Huyền can still do what he loves most – painting, which he showed us by carefully holding a pot of paint in one hand and working magic with the brush in the other.
Craig said about his visit: “It was really lovely to meet his family. They were all so welcoming and they made us an amazing meal.
“It was just a real honour to be there and to meet them and to measure his nails. They’re very impressive, apart from one which had snapped off.”
