Huge mermaid party: Hundreds of mermaids, pirates, and sea-lovers splash together
Hundreds of merpeople🧜🏽🧜♀️ and pirates🏴☠️ gathered in Oscoda, Michigan, USA to attend the Pirates and Mermaids Festival!
They had the best time while also bringing awareness to the importance of keeping our lakes and oceans clean, and even broke a world record…
By achieving the world’s largest gathering of people dressed as merpeople – 500! 🤯
Check them out.

Pretty cool, right?!
To make sure the record counted, everyone had to wear a full mermaid tail and stay in place for 5 whole minutes while our Guinness World Records Adjudicator Chloe McCarthy counted them all one by one.

Below is mermaid Elyssa and her fiancé recreating the moment he proposed to her!
They’re just like Ariel and Prince Eric. ❤️

But the festival was more than just fun and record breaking – people from the whole community came to help teach others about just how important it is to keep our lakes and oceans clean.
The event was organized by a group called Oscoda Citizens for Clean Water, and it taught everyone about a kind of pollution known as “forever chemicals” that can dirty and harm our valuable water. 🌊

Families, friends, pirates, and mermaids all had a fantastic time dancing, seeing mermaid shows, learning, and making a splash for a good cause! 😉
Would you attend the next mermaid party?
