This super-smart parrot can identify all the colours!

Meet Xiaogui, a super-smart parrot who can tell different colours apart!

With his owner, Qin Feng from China, this clever little guy set an awesome world record – fastest time to identify 10 colours by a parrot in an impressive 33.50 seconds!

It all happened in November 2024, in Jiaozuo, Henan, China, where Xiaogui officially attempted to break the record.

As you saw in the video, he had 10 tiny plastic bins, each a different colour, and a row of 10 little straw balls in matching colours.

The challenge was that the balls were all mixed up, so Xiaogui had to grab each ball, go to the bin with the same colour, and drop it in – as fast as possible!

One by one, he worked his way along the row, zooming back and forth until all 10 balls were in their perfect places, meaning that he was, finally, Officially Amazing. 🦜

He could even spot the difference between two shades of pink which, admittedly, was the hardest part!

At first, he popped the dark pink ball into the light pink bin by mistake, but then he noticed and quickly fixed it.

We all make mistakes, but it’s so cool when we realize and do our best to fix them. ❤️

Qin Feng first met Xiaogui back in 2020, when the parrot was just a fluffy baby.

He needed to be hand-fed multiple times a day, which meant that they spent a lot of time together and became besties!

Then Qin Feng soon noticed that Xiaogui loved playing with toys, and especially colourful balls!

So, he started teaching him how to tell colours apart and sort them into the right spots, and Xiaogui was surprisingly good at it.

Just like Xiaogui, we all have secret talents just waiting for us to discover them – sometimes they are obvious very early on, and other times it takes a little more time and digging to figure them out!
