LEGO fans assemble!

28 January is International LEGO Day, and we’re celebrating in classic Guinness World Records style – by checking out some AWESOME records from all around the globe!

By the way, if you’re under 16 and an aspiring record breaker yourself, check out our list of toy-themed record titles you could attempt.

And now, let’s have a closer look at our favourite LEGO records…

The Star Wars Millennium Falcon

The record for the fastest time to build the LEGO Star Wars 75192 Millennium Falcon belongs to Ivan Yu, a 20-year-old Canadian student who did it in 7 hours, 36 minutes and 37 seconds.

He pretty much worked on the build for that entire time, with minimal breaks!

“My fingertips and my back did hurt at the end of the build," he confessed.

Dedication and hard work gets you to the top!

The largest ship

largest lego ship

The largest LEGO brick ship was made using more than 2.5 million LEGO blocks, it weighs over 2,800 kg and it measures 8.44 m (27.7 ft) long, 1.33 m (4.36 ft) wide and 1.53 m (5 ft) tall.

WOW!

Over 1,000 people worked together to make this record-breaking ship – teamwork makes the dream work, right?

The largest caravan

Who wouldn’t want to travel around the world in the largest LEGO brick caravan?!

Australian artist Ben Craig, also known as “The Brick Builder,” has turned his love for LEGO into something truly amazing…

From airports to lighthouses, he’s built it all, but in 2018, he took things to the next level.

He spent 5 weeks creating a life-size 1973 Viscount Royal caravan using 288,630 bricks.

This home on wheels was fully equipped with a stove top, refrigerator, sink (with running water!) and drawers packed with cutlery.

Would you trust it to take you anywhere you’d want to visit?

The LEGO arm

man with lego arm

David Aguilar, better known as ‘Hand Solo,’ was born without a right forearm, so he used his creativity and ingenuity to design and build the first functional prosthetic arm made out of LEGO

And the most impressive part? He was just 9 years old!

In other words, take David as proof that you can achieve amazing things at any age…

Now, he makes affordable prosthetics for those who cannot afford the fitting and maintenance of a traditional prosthetic.

What a legend!

Largest LEGO set

lego colosseum

Last but not least, in 2021 this awesome Colosseum became the largest commercially available LEGO set, made of 9,036 pieces.

How fast do you think you could build the whole thing?!

If you’re ever in Rome, Italy, look out for the real-life version!
