World Teachers’ Day: 3 mind-blowing world records broken by educators!
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on 5 October, so if there’s a teacher that you love and appreciate, this is the best day to thank them for all their hard work!
Here at Guinness World Records, we like to mark this day by celebrating all of our record-breaking educators who prove that teaching isn’t the only thing they’re good at…
So here are some of the coolest records broken by teachers in 2026.
Most push ups in 1 hour (female)

Laura Hunt, a PE teacher from USA, smashed a total of 1,826 push ups in 1 hour!
And she did it all to prove to her kids and students that hard things are worth doing.
“I have always been a goal-driven person who thrives on challenges,” she told us. “[Setting the record] is a statement of perseverance, discipline, and belief in what is possible… we can all be bigger than ordinary!”

With over 25 years of experience in physical education, Laura knows what makes a good push up. However, for this challenging attempt, she had to train A LOT to get her strength, balance, core, and mobility at the level she needed to compete.
Hard work pays off!
Feel inspired? Maybe you could break a sports and action record yourself…
Most decimal digits memorized underwater

Holding his breath underwater, memory master Christian Schäfer from Germany furiously scrolled through a long list of numbers on a mobile phone screen, doing his best to remember each one by heart…
When he reemerged, he managed to recite an impressive 87 figures!

And the most impressive part?
That’s not the teacher’s only record!
Christian has also claimed records for:
- Longest sequence of coins memorized: 250
- Most phone numbers recalled in three minutes: 11
- Fastest time to blow a stamp 100 m: 3 minute and 3 seconds
- Fastest time to blow a stamp 1 mile: 1 hour, 57 minutes and 38 seconds
WOW!
Most T-shirts put on while controlling a football (soccer ball) with the head

Maths professor Agim Agushi from Kosovo proved his football skills are just as impressive as his number knowledge with this cool record!
With a few swift moves, he put on 17 T-shirts while controlling a football with his head the entire time, and he beat his own previous record of 14.

Agim is also a serial record breaker who currently holds the records for:
- Most T-shirts removed while heading a football: 28
- Most times to put on and remove a T-shirt while controlling a football with the head: 164
- Longest time heading a football (soccer ball) between 2 people: 34 minutes 1 second with Bujar Ajeti (Kosovo)
