Does this record look… easy?

Well, odds are high you can’t beat 9-year-old Matilda Brown (UK)!

She beat the classic Guinness World Records title for the longest duration to balance a spoon on the nose after patiently sitting inside the Saffrons Sports Ground in Eastbourne, UK, with a spoon on her face for 59 minutes and 56.60 seconds

And we know what you’re wondering – why just under an hour?

Well, in reality Matilda could have kept going even longer, but the rules say kids can’t compete for more than one hour – honestly, it can be super tiring.

But hey, she still did amazing and that didn’t stop her from beating the 40-minute goal, so she went home a winner!

Matilda made her official attempt in front of her family and friends, as well as a rotating crowd of supportive spectators there to watch games at the sports centre.

“It was so exciting to do it with so many people cheering me on,” she said. “I felt really proud of myself for giving it my very best.”

Could you break a record with so many people watching?!

Matilda also said that she had been practising and dreaming about breaking the record for ages, and that she was “thrilled” she finally was able to get the cutlery competition’s crown.

So let’s set the scene of the attempt…

Matilda was really self-controlled, cleaning off the spoon and placing it on her nose with the confidence of someone who had done it many times before.

Practice makes perfect!

She had to be careful not to get too excited whenever her family and friends checked-in on her, as any small change in her facial expression could cause the spoon to slip!

But Matilda isn’t a rookie – she knew she had to keep her eyes down and her body relaxed, despite all the commotion around her.

So, as the minutes ticked by on the iPad next to her, Matilda got closer and closer to taking the title… and soon enough, she hit the hour mark!

Everyone cheered for her, and soon she removed the spoon from her nose and joined in on the celebrations – what a legend!

Congratulations Matilda, you are Officially Amazing.
