“No matter how small you are or where you come from, anything is possible” – that’s what little Willem said after he broke a world record with his awesome hopping skills.

South African kid Willem Delport wished to inspire fellow children of Africa to achieve something amazing, so he attempted the record for the most hops on one foot in a minute, which he smashed with 208 jumps.

See him in action:

Wasn’t he incredible?!

Before officially attempting the record, Willem was pretty confident in his skills.

“I believe that I am able to significantly improve the current set record of 126,” he told us.

And his dream was as big as it was noble: “My goal is to be published in the [Guinness World Records] book, to serve as a motivation for other kids in Africa to show them that anything is possible, even if you come from a small country on the tip of Africa.”

We’re sure his story will motivate and inspire many kids, in Africa and beyond, to follow their dreams, however big or small!

The event took place in the public parking area of The Ashton Group of Auditors and Accountants, an auditing firm in Pretoria, Gauteng Province, close to Willem’s home, and the record was measured by 2 independent timekeepers.

The most important rules for the attempt to be valid were:

  • Willem couldn’t change legs at any point.
  • His raised leg couldn’t touch the ground.
  • Each hop had to clearly leave the ground.

The young record breaker followed the rules to the letter, and smashed the previous record by a whopping 82 steps!

Of course, his family and friends celebrated with him and were all very proud of him – as are we.

So congratulations, Willem, you are Officially Amazing!
