Skyler wore a GINORMOUS stack of sweaters to break a world record

Skyler Rozell-Whitaker (USA) broke a world record at 7 YEARS OLD!

He achieved the most jumpers / sweaters worn at once with a jaw-dropping round number of 50, 4 more than the previous record of 46.

Not only that, but he also donated all of the materials to a clothing drive after winning the record – how iconic?!

The day of the official attempt was super fun too, with Skyler being helped by his moms and cheered on by his classmates the entire time.

Supporting your friends’ dreams is SO important!

“Close to the end I was a little hot, but it was fun to dance and jump around with my friends when I was done,” Skyler told us. “Everyone was hugging me, but I couldn't move my arms to hug back!”

Skyler, who just turned 8, told us that he’s always dreamt of breaking a world record – honestly, who doesn’t?

But it took a while to think of something that he could achieve at his young age, while also being the type of record that would make a positive difference in the lives of others, which is something Skyler loves to do…

In fact, he often volunteers with his family at a local clothing drive, and he was determined to combine those 2 interests – record breaking and volunteering!

So when he found the sweaters title, he knew it would be the perfect fit (pun intended).

But how did they prepare for the attempt?

Skyler and his mums collected dozens of options from local secondhand stores, and some brand-new items from Walmart. And although it was summer outside, they practised their attempt indoors and next to a fan so that he always felt nice and cool!

“Once we knew Skyler was safe, comfortable, and happy, all that was left to do was organize and fold the sweaters by size,” said his mom, Patty Rozell-Whitaker. “And figure out whether he looked more like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man or Baymax by the end of the attempt!”

This record attempt was already hard, but for Skyler, there was an extra hurdle…

“My mum said it's funny that this is the record I went for, because I don't like sweaters,” he explained. “They are itchy and I'm a sensory kid and there's a lot of stuff that I won't wear because it doesn't feel good. So it didn't make sense other than to be silly and fun.”

So of course, his favourite part of the challenge was taking the sweaters off at the end: “I didn't like having them all on the back of my neck; it felt weird.”

But it was all worth it in the end!

So how does it feel to break a world record?

“It’s exciting and cool,” said Skyler. “I liked seeing all the videos and news articles that kept popping up. [I] was even on an Australian morning news show!”

Can you imagine doing something so incredible that people see it on the other side of the world?!

And even though he’s a very busy kid – he has an orange belt at karate and loves parkour! – Skyler says this will not be his last record title…

He’s going to help his moms with another attempt in October involving a bicycle, while also working on getting his elementary school and his best friend Liam their own titles!
