Meet Hank, the donkey with record-breaking ears!

It’s a well-known fact that donkeys have big, long ears – they help them cool down when it’s really hot outside, plus they can hear sounds from far, far away!

So what’s so special about this particular donkey named Hank?

He doesn’t have just any regular long ears; in fact, he holds the Guinness World Records title for the LONGEST ears on a living donkey!

This playful 16-year-old farm animal from Muncy, Pennsylvania, USA received some fateful measurements on behalf of his keeper Jennifer Gee (USA), which revealed that his ears are a jaw-dropping 17.12 in (43.50 cm).

That’s roughly 1.5 in (3.3 cm) longer than the previous record holder!

It’s also taller than a bowling pin…

WOW!

The day he officially broke the record was epic.

“He got a lot of pets and hugs and special treats that day,” Jennifer said to GWR. “We are also having T-shirts made with his picture!”

Jennifer first met Hank 5 years ago, when she went to investigate some of his friends that were looking for a home. She says that Hank ran right up to her, and wouldn’t leave her side until she eventually decided to bring him home with her!

“His owner was shocked, because he had never taken to anyone like that before,” explained Jennifer. “I ended up purchasing him because I fell in love with him.”

And over these past 5 years, Jennifer and Hank have become absolute besties!

Jennifer describes him as a “very playful and goofy boy.”

She says that he loves spending his time as her hiking buddy and “tormenting” his other animal friends, yet most of all, they love competing in trail obstacle competitions – where Jennifer guides Hank through a variety of obstructions as fast as they can.

She said: “No matter where I take him, the comments have always been that he has the biggest ears they have ever seen!”

So, when someone sent Jennifer the article about the past record holder, she thought that Hank might have even longer ears...

And turns out – he was incomp-ear-able!
