Dinosaurs may have roamed the Earth MILLIONS of years ago, but their incredible feats and mind-blowing facts continue to wow us to this day! 🤩

If you’re fascinated by these legendary creatures like us, stick around as we explore some of the most astonishing dinosaur world records.

From the largest piece of fossilized dinosaur poo 💩 to the most magnificent dinosaur-themed collection, there is something for everyone.

But before you read all about them…

Test how much you know about dinosaurs with this fun QUIZ!

Largest coprolite from a carnivore

Coprolites are the fossilized droppings of ancient animals…

So basically, fossilized poo! 💩

This particular record-breaking coprolite is 67.5 centimetres (2 feet 2.5 inches) long – along the central curve – and up to 15.7 centimetres (6.2 inches) wide

Check out the ruler in the picture for scale. 📏

It was named Barnum after palaeontologist Barnum Brown who unearthed the first Tyrannosaurus rex remains in 1902!

And where can you find it?

In the Poozeum, the world-famous dinosaur poop-themed museum and gift shop in Williams, Arizona.

And yes, it’s just as amazing as it sounds!

You can read all about it here.

Heaviest dinosaur

The largest and heaviest living creature to EVER walk the Earth was the sauropod dinosaur Argentinosaurus huinculensis, which lived in what is now South America roughly 97–93.5 million years ago. 🤯

So how heavy was he?!

Well, its estimated weight is 60-124 tonnes – which is about as much as 15 to 30 elephants! 🐘🐘🐘

Despite their size, these dinosaurs were herbivores, meaning that they likely fed on a variety of plants, such as leaves from trees and ferns.

That is probably why they had these long necks – to help them reach both high branches and low-lying vegetation! 🌳

Largest Triceratops skeleton

Imagine discovering a skeleton of a dinosaur that roamed the Earth millions of years ago, and it’s 7.15 m (23 ft 5 in) long from snout to tail tip! 😮

It was nicknamed 'Big John' – what would you call it?

Triceratops aren’t as heavy as the Argentinosaurus, but they weigh 6-8 tonnes which is still quite impressive, don’t you think?

Their most impressive feature, however, is that they have 3 horns on their heads: 2 above their eyes and 1 on their noses.

Youngest person to discover a fossil of an unknown dinosaur species

This record is a bit different…

Because it was set by a kid just like you!

Wylie J. Brys was just 4 years and 337 days old when, in 2014, he found the bones of a 100-million-year-old dinosaur in Texas, USA. 🦕

Wylie and his dad were looking for fossils in the area of Mansfield at that time.

The achievement made national AND worldwide news media!

All these years later, the bones are still being researched at Southern Methodist University. 🤓

That’s pretty cool, right?

Tallest dinosaur

Dinosaur remains discovered in 1994 in Oklahoma, USA belong to what is believed to be the tallest creature to have ever walked the Earth…

It was a Sauroposeidon, which stood at 18 m (60 ft) tall and weighed 60 tonnes! 🤩

A modern-day animal of comparable height is the giraffe. 🦒

Largest collection of dinosaur items

Last but not least, here is another record broken by a fan of dinosaurs. 🦖

Do you collect anything?

Well, Cesar Augusto Canales Cueva from Peru has a very cool collection of dinosaur-related items such as:

How many, you ask?

It was 1,226 unique items when last officially counted over 4 years ago, so…

Who knows how many he has now! 🤯
