20 February is Love your Pet Day. 🐇

Do you have any pets, or do you dream of having one when you're older?

Pets make our lives better in so many ways, by being our best friends and giving us their unconditional love every day. So, this day is dedicated to showing our furry companions all our appreciation and love!

And what better way to do it than by celebrating some of our adorable pet record breakers?

Who knows, this might even inspire you to attempt a record with your own furry bestie. 😉

Leonard is a slam dunk champion

Leonard Lee Hanula from USA recently broke the record for the most basketball slam dunks in one minute by a dog with no less than 22 slam dunks.

Leonard made his attempt at the Lazy Dog Restaurants, which donated a portion of their proceeds to a local animal rescue.

What a champion! 🏀

Penelope is a TV star

Penelope turned into a star overnight by setting a record for the fastest time to complete 10 jumps by a rabbit on our Italian TV show Lo Show dei Record. 🐰

After being trained for months by her beloved owner, 18-year-old Ole Roski from Germany, the talented bunny successfully jumped 10 obstacles in just 7.16 seconds!

Penelope’s achievement is truly impressive – in fact, 2 other rabbits tried to set the same record before her but, unfortunately, they didn’t succeed…

Setting a world record is no piece of cake! 🍰

Jonathan is the world’s oldest tortoise

Jonathan is not only the world’s oldest turtle/chelonian, but also the oldest living land animal. 🤯

How old is he, you ask?

Well, he is a whopping 191 years old and, according to his long-time vet, Joe Hollins, he is “in good health and all the indications at present make us hopeful that he will reach his third century.”

Meaning, Joe thinks that Jonathan will get to over 200 years old!

“It is extraordinary to think that this gentle giant has outlived every other living creature on land, including of course the whole human race.”

It really is. 😲

Abby leaps her way to a world record

This super cute guinea pig from USA, Abby, broke the record for highest bar jump by a guinea pig with the unbelievable height of 22 cm. 🐹

“I realized that Abby was so great at jumping when she learned how to jump over the obstacle in a day," Grace, her owner, told us. “She was a very fast learner, and in about a week, she was jumping over it without me even telling her to do so!"

Bella purrs louder than the TV

Registering a purr that measured 54.59 decibels, a moggie cat named Bella achieved the noisy record for the world’s loudest purr by a domestic cat (living).

According to her owner, Nicole, Bella “purrs all day long! If there’s food around, or cuddles, she always purrs.

“Also when watching TV – she likes to be loud with television. My late husband used to always moan about the sound of her purr blocking the sound of the TV in the evenings.”

See Bella in action, along with other cool animal records, in the video below:

These pets are Officially Amazing because they hold Guinness World Records titles… but we think that all animals are truly amazing. ❤️
