2025 is officially behind us, and what a year it was!
Here at Guinness World Records, we’re all about celebrating the things that make us unique, and we had LOTS to celebrate this past year.
We love seeing all the incredible things our bodies can do and the exceptional features that make each of us who we are…
So from the largest afro to the longest fingernails, let’s look back at some of the most amazing body-related records of the year.
Longest fingernails
Meet Lưu Công Huyền, an awesome Vietnamese artist who has spent 34 YEARS of his life growing out his fingernails!
He now officially has the world’s longest fingernails on a pair of hands by a man with an unbelievable measurement of 594.45 cm (19 ft 6 in).
That's taller than a giraffe!
Hanging from each hand, his nails twist into amazing shapes and they’re covered in bright splashes of paint from the colourful murals he creates on people’s houses.
Pretty amazing, right?
Hairiest face on a person
Lalit Patidar is an 18-year-old boy from India with an extremely rare condition, called werewolf syndrome.
Exactly how rare, you ask?
Well, approximately 1 in a BILLION people have it.
That means that Lalit is 1 of only around 50 known people in the entire world to have this syndrome since the beginning of time, so… he’s definitely special!
Lalit’s entire face is mostly covered in hair – and with 201.72 hairs per square centimetre, there is no doubt that he holds the world record for hairiest face on a person (male).
Record-breaking contortions
Eddie John Browne from Sierra Leone, also known as “Eddie Flexible”, is an incredible contortionist who broke not 1, but 2 world records within 17 days:
- Most full body revolutions maintaining a chest stand position in one minute (male) – 38
- Most consecutive full body revolutions with a backbend handstand (male) – 21

Largest afro
Everyone loves a hair world record!
Jessica “Jess” Martinez from USA has the world’s largest afro on a woman, and isn’t it fabulous?
After she had 3 people help her with the tape measure, her hair came out to be 29 cm (11.42 in) tall, 31 cm (12.2 in) wide, and 190 cm (6 ft 2.87 in) in circumference.
Before applying for this record, Jess spent years not truly loving her natural hair and instead trying to change it, until…
She realized how unique and powerful it was, and decided to grow it to this record-breaking length.
These incredible achievements show just how amazing our bodies can be, and we can’t wait to see what awesome records 2026 has in store!
