Records that sound like April Fools pranks but are totally real!
Happy April Fools’ Day! Have you been pranked yet?
On 1 April every year we celebrate the most fun day, when people play silly tricks and jokes on each other just for laughs.
Here at Guinness World Records, we love to joke around and have fun – but our record titles are always official and totally real.
So, here is a list of world records that are so bizarre, you might think they’re April Fools pranks… but they’re not!
Who’s making that noise?

You hear a loud, continuous whistling sound, but no one around you seems to be whistling?
Maybe it’s LuLu Lotus, whistling through her NOSE and blowing everyone away with her amazing talent!
LuLu from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, can reach a pitch of 44.1 decibel(s) (C-weighted) with her nose, making it the loudest nose whistle in the world.
That’s as loud as a birdcall!
The driving fish
You’re walking down the street when a fast car swooshes past you, and it’s driven by a… fish?!
No, you’re not being pranked right now. This is Blub, the goldfish that can drive thanks to Thomas de Wolf’s brilliant invention.
The computer engineer from the Netherlands made a unique car that contains a water tank and is directed by the movements of the goldfish inside it!
It earned him and Blub a record title for the greatest distance covered in a motion-sensing vehicle by a goldfish in 1 minute, with a jaw-dropping 12.28 metres (40 ft 3.46 in).
Pretty cool, right?
He’s a fart-ist!

A fart-powered ‘superhero’ dressed in green and purple says he’s been working as a flatulist, a professional fart artist, for over 35 years – real or fake?
Real!
Paul Oldfield from the UK calls his unique skill “controlled butt talking”, and with it he broke the record for the longest career as a flatulist.

Is she okay?!
It might be a bit of a shock to see Sofia Tepla bent in that peculiar way, and you might even think that she’s injured or in pain… but don’t worry, she’s absolutely fine!
The young contortionist from Ukraine has broken 2 records with her flexibility:
- Fastest time to travel 20 m in a contortion roll – 10.49 seconds
- Most contortion roll push-ups in 30 seconds – 21
And you read can all about her journey here.
The loudest burp
Whoa! Who made that loud, roaring sound?
Don’t worry, it wasn’t a lion… it was just the world’s loudest burp (female) ever recorded!
Kimberly Winter, also known as “Kimycola”, burped louder than a vacuum cleaner at 107.3 decibels.
She revealed that she enjoys seeing the shocked faces of strangers when she surprises them with her burps: “That is just magic to me,” she said.
Kimberly hiding around the corner to scare you with a huge burp? Perfect April Fools’ mischief!
The eyeball popper
Seeing Williams’s eyes pop out without warning can be quite surprising, to say the least!
It’s not a trick or deception – these are his real eyes, and they can pop out an amazing 19 millimetres (0.74 inches), achieving the record for the farthest eyeball pop (male) – WOW.
In fact, when Williams Martin Sanchez Lopez from Uruguay showed his doctor, it was such a surprise it gave them a little scare!
So imagine seeing that on April Fools’ Day…
Remember, on this magical day, anything can happen – so keep your eyes peeled!
