When she was just 2 years old, Isla McNabb from Crestwood, Kentucky, USA, blew the world away by becoming the youngest Mensa member (female).
Mensa International is an organization for those with a very high IQ, so basically, people who are really REALLY clever! 🤯
But how can you tell if a toddler is secretly a genius?! 🧐
Well, Isla’s parents noticed she had a very focused attention from the very start.
But, even though everyone could see that she was very smart, it all became super clear when she started learning...
At just 1 year old, Isla started learning her colours, numbers, and even the alphabet! 🤓
“At 7 months of age she would pick out certain items from picture books when asked,” said Isla’s father, Jason McNabb.
At 18 months she learned the alphabet on her own and began to read at two years old.
Can you picture a 2-year-old reading a book like it's no big deal?! 🤣
So here's what happened...
On her 2nd birthday, Isla’s aunt Crystal gave her an erasable writing tablet as a present.
Her dad wrote the word “red” on the tablet and, to everyone's surprise, Isla read the word. 😮
Everyone was shocked - they just couldn't believe it!
So they decided to write more words, such as “blue,” “yellow,” “cat,” and “dog,” and Isla read all of them out loud...
Isla's mum suggested they get Isla tested and, long story short, a star was born. ⭐
At almost 2.5 years old, Isla scored in the top 1% of the population, which means she is in the top 1% of the world's smartest people!
Today Isla is 3 years old and she goes to preschool, with her mum and dad hoping that she'll be able to start kindergarten early.
The little wunderkind is especially good at maths and reading.
What is your favourite school subject?
Isla never stops wanting to learn new things...
“She often mispronounces words that we can only assume she learned by reading,” said her dad.
“Last week she said she needed to wash the germs off her hands but pronounced it with a hard G.”
Another time, Isla showed her mum and dad the alphabet in American Sign Language, and they are still trying to figure out where she learned it. 🤣
According to the dad, Jason, having such a smart kid is not always easy...
“With my other children, if I didn’t want them to know what I was talking about, we could just spell things out in front of them, but Isla picks it up right away,” he said.
If I ask her mother ‘Hey, should we get an I-C-E-C-R-E-A-M’, Isla will perk up and yell ‘ice cream!’
It sure seems like living with Isla would be full of funny moments. 😆
So, what does she like to do for fun?
She likes drawing, learning, and playing with her cat Booger.
Isla also loves to read books, such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Pete the Cat. 🐈
Do you have any of the same hobbies?
Isla's dad is excited to see her achieve a Guinness World Records title: “It is amazing to see her achieve so much in only 3 years.”
I can't wait to see what her future holds.
So, what do you think? Is Isla the world's SMARTEST kid?!
All we know with certainty is that she is Officially Amazing! 🥳
