Have you ever been snowboarding?🏂

This teenage snowboarding prodigy has been getting on a snowboard ever since she could walk!

Aged 16 years and 39 days, she is now youngest snowboarding world champion in the history of the sport.

Mia Brookes from the UK won the women’s snowboard slopestyle at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships in Bakuriani, Georgia, earlier this year.

She is also Britain's first-ever world champion in the event! 🏅

Of course, we had to hear everything about her journey...

“My parents took me away snowboarding when I was 18 months old and I’ve carried on since then,” Mia told us.

When asked how passionate she is about the sport, she said: “It is the biggest part of my life and I think that every minute of it makes me love it even more, especially snowboarding with my friends and meeting new people who share the same amount of love for it as me.” ❤️

Like every professional athlete, however, Mia has also encountered many obstacles, such as injuries.

You can never be too careful in sports, especially winter ones! Snow is beautiful and fun, but also slippery which can be dangerous.❄️

Mia's hobbies include:

  • playing the guitar 🎸
  • drawing 🖍️
  • cycling 🚴
  • skateboarding 🛹

...as well as one more unexpected hobby, crocheting! 🧶

"It is nice and relaxing after a long day on the mountain, or when travelling to and from mountain resorts,” she said.

“Find something you are really passionate about, work hard at that every day and you will find success.” – Mia Brookes

We were very happy to announce that Mia is now an official world record holder, to which she replied: “Breaking this record at such a young age is so special to me and I’m super happy I did it during competition!”

And, as she confirmed, this might be just the beginning in her record breaking journey... 👀

Lastly, her advice to every young boy or girl like her is to “Find something you are really passionate about or something you really enjoy, work hard at that every day and you will find success within that.”

Mia, you are Officially Amazing! 🥳
