Have you ever ridden a horse? 🏇
22-year-old Andrea Galuppi from Italy is an expert on horses, and now he's got the record titles to prove it!
With years of experience as a jockey and acrobat, Andrea decided to turn his passion into a career... and a record-breaking one at that.
How did he achieve that, you ask?
By setting not one, but TWO world records on our Italian TV show Lo Show dei Record:
- the most jumps cleared by a miniature horse in one minute - 31
- the most blindfolded backward dismounts and mounts on a moving horse in one minute - 17
Andrea grew up with a love for horses instilled in him by his father, and he owns at least two horses, one of which is a miniature horse.
Lucky him, right? 😩
So, he and his beloved miniature horse named Calimero attempted a jumping record.
Now, Calimero may look like a cute little baby horse, but he is actually 5 years old, which - in horse years - means that he is a fully developed adult.
He is best friends with a dog, and guess what - they are almost the same size! 🤣
Calimero is quite shy but, as soon as he took the stage, he charmed everyone with his cuteness...
In order for little Calimero to set the record, he needed to achieve at least 10 jumps in total. 😮
How did Calimero do?
Well, he threw down a few obstacles (we bet he was nervous!), but he also achieved a total of 31 successful jumps! 💪
Now on to the second record...
This record title is quite more challenging. To achieve the most blindfolded backward dismounts and mounts on a moving horse in one minute one needs to not only have the perfect chemistry with their horse, but also both horse and horse rider need to have complete faith and trust in each other.
But let's talk about the horse!
Aragon is a beautiful 13-year-old white stallion and, as you can see in the above picture, Andrea loves him very much.
And honestly, who wouldn't? 🐴
In order for the record to be valid, there were some very strict rules in place; firstly, Andrea’s feet need to touch the ground every time he dismounts Aragon, and secondly, he needs to be blindfolded the entire time.
How did Andrea and Aragon do?
Amazingly well! They kept a steady rhythm throughout the entire minute, achieving an extraordinary 17 dismounts and mounts! 💪
About this record, Andrea said that “in order for this all to be possible and safe, we had to work really hard, both me and Aragon. We have a very close relationship and I was encouraging him the entire time”.
