Hello, I’m Pritish and drumming has been my passion ever since I can remember. Today I hold the record for the most drumbeats in a minute using drumsticks – 2,370. That’s almost 40 beats per second! 🥁😎

Where it all started

When I was little, I used to make sounds with my toys and my mum noticed that I was naturally attracted to music… that’s before I even started school!

So, when I was 5, she signed me up to a programme at kindergarten where we would ride a bus full of musical instruments – I was instantly in love. 💛

So, why did I choose the drums?

I think that the loudness of the toms and the fact that I could use my arms and legs connected me with the kit.

I don’t like to keep my limbs idle – I need to use my whole body to create music! 🤪

My journey towards record breaking...

Soon I started taking lessons every week and even practising every single day!

I had a dream of becoming one of the best young drummers in the world, and no one could stop me. 💪🏽

After I passed the highest level drum exam possible, my mum suggested that I could attempt breaking a world record.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to drum roll very fast, so this record title seemed ideal.

But don’t get me wrong – it was super hard at first. 😱

I practised for 7 months straight and, finally, the title became mine!

On the day of the attempt, seeing the setup and taking my throne to start, the butterflies tickled through my stomach.

What it's like being a record holder

My attempt took place in a music studio, so that we could track all the beats with pinpoint precision – it was all so professional!

I was so happy to find out that I broke the previous record of 2,109, set by an adult…

As soon as I finished the attempt and was told the result, I had a huge smile on my face! 🥹

I am the only musician in my family, which makes it even more special.

I felt super proud when my friends congratulated me at school and, even more, when my achievement was announced by the principal in assembly and published in the school newsletter. 🥳

Drumming is my passion and music is my breath. When I play the drums, I feel the rhythm stimulating and motivating me!

Here’s a couple more things you need to know about me:

  • I have many hobbies other than music! I like swimming, indoor climbing, cricket and even martial arts. 🏊🏾 🏏 🥋

  • Without a guess, my favourite subject is Music – but I also enjoy Maths, Sports, Technology & Geography!

  • I strongly believe that nothing has the power to heal and bring happiness to life as much as music. 🎶

My plans for the future

I have many goals for the future!

I want to pursue a career in music, learn more instruments – such as the bongo – and even learn how to drum with fire sticks. 🔥

I also want to enter talent shows and release my own music.
