This hair-mazing Christmas Record will make you look twice

We all love a good facial hair record, especially a Christmas themed one! 🎅

This year we have an exciting, newly broken record that celebrates Christmas in the most unique way.

It is the Most beard baubles in a beard which is 710 and was broken for the fourth time in a row (!) by Joel Strasser.

Joel's story


Joel Strasser is a serial record-breaker and has achieved multiple Guinness World Records titles by putting various items in his beard, such as:

  • Chopsticks 🥢
  • Paper straws 🥤
  • Golf tees, cotton swabs, and more!

Joel started his journey of breaking records around Christmas time of 2017, 5 years ago. 😮

“I wanted to put a bunch of toothpicks in my beard to see how close I could get to the actual record. At the time the record was 3100.  I managed to beat the record with 3200 on my first try! I realised I have a knack for it.” Joel explained.

So what about this particular bauble record?

Joel first attempted breaking the existing record in December 2019 and, ever since, he’s been breaking his own record every Christmas!

 The records were:

  • 302 baubles in 2019
  • 542 baubles in 2020
  • 686 baubles in 2021
  • 710 baubles in 2022

About the process, he said: 

“I have to get in the zone by playing some appropriate Christmas music. It helps my beard be more receptive to the baubles.”

He is up to 12 titles right now, but he’s not stopping there!


Advice from a serial record-breaker


So, if you’re dreaming of one day (soon?) breaking a record yourself, take a piece of advice from Joel, a serial record-breaker: 

“It can be done! If I can break world records, so can you. Find a category that interests you, decide you can do it, and practice until you do! It takes a lot of work, but the glory is worth it.” ✨
