Earth Day 2023: records that helped preserve planet Earth & how YOU can help

This Saturday 22 April is Earth Day. 🌎

During this special day, people from all over the world show how much they love and appreciate our planet!

Earth is our home, and it takes care of us every day with its food, water, fresh air and beauty.

So why not give it something back by finding ways to help preserve planet Earth and the natural world? 🤔

Well, that’s exactly what these record breakers did!

Most bottles recycled by a dog

An adorable Labrador from the UK, called Tubby, helped recycle an estimated 26,000 plastic bottles in six years. 🤯

How did he manage that, you ask?

By collecting them on his daily walks, crushing them, and passing them to his owner Sandra…

Such a good boy! 🐶

Most people potting plants simultaneously

This record is very popular and has been broken a few times. 👀

Currently, the record title belongs to a group of 4,035 people in Udaipur, India, led by the Prince of Udaipur! 👑

In fact, the Prince decided to lead by example and celebrate his birthday by planting as many plants as he could.

Largest vegan burger

Have you ever eaten a vegan burger? 🍔

Vegan is an environmentally friendly diet that avoids using any animal products (such as meat, milk and eggs) and only uses plant-based foods instead (such as fruit, vegetables, cereals and nuts). 🥗

Vegan burgers can be made of soy, veggies, rice and more delicious ingredients, resulting in a delicious meal!

This burger in particular was not only eco-friendly and delicious, but also of record-breaking size. 

In fact, it weighted 162.5 kg (358 lb 4 oz)… that’s as heavy as three octopuses. 🐙 🐙 🐙

The burger was then given to charity to distribute to homeless people.

Here is what you will need:

• A teammate – can be a friend or sibling 🧑‍🤝‍🧑
• Recyclable materials, such as paper cups and plastic bottles 🥛
• 2 bags to sort out the materials in ♻️
• 3 bins 🗑️
