7-year-old Nidhish V B, from Tamil Nadu, India, is perhaps the biggest DC fan in the world! 🦸
Nidhish was able to name 60 DC characters in 60 seconds, breaking the world record for the most DC characters identified in one minute. The previous record was 53.
Nidhish is an actor and plays a leading role in Abiyum Nanum, which is an Indian TV show. 🤩
The young star realised that he could “easily remember dialogue” and his parents encouraged him to use his memory skills to break a world record.
Being a superfan of Superman, Nidhish was instantly attracted to the title of most DC characters identified in one minute.
DC Comics were founded in 1937 and quickly became one of world's biggest comic book creators. Thousands of different characters have featured in their stories over the years! 🦸🦹
Nidhish began training straight away and spent over two months learning as many DC characters as possible. 🦸
Nidhish's days are usually very busy as he balances his acting career with his schoolwork. However, he made time every day to practise for this record attempt.
He woke up at 5 a.m. every day to visit his trainer Sareefa, who helped Nidhish learn all of the DC superheroes and villains. 🦹
After this early-morning practise, Nidhish would go to film an episode of Abiyum Nanum, followed by a full day of school. 😵
On the day of the official attempt, Nidhish was confident in his ability to break the record. All his training had been leading to this moment. 😊
Nidhish had to state the full and correct name of each character presented to him on a slideshow, which included over 100 different characters!
Unlike acting on a TV show, there was no script for Nidhish to read from and he didn't know which characters would appear on the screen.
Nidhish said the biggest challenge he faced was the “swift flashing of the images”. However, the 7-year-old superstar stayed as cool as a cucumber and managed to keep up with the fast-moving slideshow. 😎
Nidhish managed to name one character per second, setting a new record for the most DC characters identified in one minute at 60.
The previous record of 53 was achieved by S. Mohammed Harsath (India) in 2021.
Nidhish was inspired to achieve a Guinness World Records title by his mother, Vijayalakshmi Bhoopathi, who has organized and participated in two record attempts in the past:
- Most people making and wearing awareness ribbons simultaneously: 1,075
- Most people dancing with swords: 798 (now broken; the current record is 2,126)
Even though he looks cooler in the Batsuit than any other actor we've seen, Nidhish’s favourite DC character is actually Superman.
“He is strongest of all, he learns from his mistakes and he also has good moral values,” Nidhish said. 💪
Like all good superhero movies, Nidhish plans on there being a sequel to his story. He is determined to break many more records in the future!
He aims to “break at least 2 records every year” and by doing so he hopes to inspire kids all around the world. 🌍
