Remember Jyoti, the world's shortest woman living?

In 2009, a girl from India named Jyoti Amge first entered the Guinness World Records family as the world’s shortest teenager living.

Then, a couple of years later she broke the record for shortest woman living, and she has been the title holder ever since.

12 years later, 29-year-old Jyoti has achieved a lot in her life, but she is still as approachable and sweet as the first day we met her! 🤗

Jyoti is just 62.8 cm (24.7 in) tall, meaning she’s shorter than an average two-year-old.

She recently appeared on the Italian TV show Lo Show dei Record, where we met up with her backstage...

Check out the video below to learn more about her 👇

Jyoti was an average-sized kid until the age of five. Growing up, she was still able to attend school, even though she needed a custom-made desk and chair.

Some other things that need to be custom-made to Jyoti's unique size are:

  • plates, knives and forks 🍽️
  • cups 🥤
  • clothes 🥻
  • jewellery 💍

Being the world's shortest woman has turned Jyoti into a star, known all around the world! 🌎

She has appeared on multiple Guinness World Records TV shows not only in Italy, but also in Türkiye and more.

What is more, Jyoti fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming an actress, with her biggest TV role being Ma Petite on well-known series American Horror Story

With this achievement, she earned another Guinness World Records title as the world’s shortest actress!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

“People like me might be small in stature, but they can also act. Regular people should not underestimate people who are small.” - Jyoti Amge

In 2012, Jyoti was brought together with the world’s shortest man ever, Chandra Bahadur Dangi from Nepal, whom measured 54.6 cm (21.5 in)...

Even shorter than Jyoti! 🤯

"When I met the shortest man in the world and got to know him, I felt very happy," Jyoti told us. "I felt more included and more satisfied that there is somebody like me too."

A few years later, in 2018, Jyoti flew to Egypt to meet the world's tallest man living.

Sultan Kösen from Türkiye is 251 cm (8 ft 2.8 in) tall - that's four times taller than Jyoti!

In fact, he is so tall that his feet alone are longer than Jyoti's height. 🦵

After meeting with Sultan and Chandra, Jyoti said: "I never knew people could be so oddly different. After meeting them I felt happy that there were others like me too."

So, what is Jyoti up to these days?

When she’s not on TV shows or attending media events, Jyoti usually spends time with her family and likes to record videos for her popular TikTok channel.

Jyoti inspires people all over the world, proving that being different doesn’t stop you from achieving great things in life. ❤️
