It doesn’t happen every day that the tallest and shortest women in the world meet…
But when they do, they simply have to celebrate with a classy afternoon tea in London, right? 😌🍵
On the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day, Jyoti Amge and Rumeysa Gelgi (respectively the shortest and tallest women living) met for the first time ever!
The 2 iconic women were super excited to spend a “girls’ day out” together, so they got to know each other during a relaxing morning, enjoying some delicious tea and pastries.
Rumeysa is known worldwide as the tallest woman living, standing at 215.16 cm (7 ft 0.7 in), while Jyoti has been the shortest woman living (mobile) for over 10 years, measuring 62.8 cm (2 ft 0.7 in)…
The height difference between the 2 is about the same as an average 12-year-old girl. 🤯
But despite their differences, the 2 women became friends in no time by bonding over their life experiences and their love for fashion and self-care.
"Meeting Jyoti for the first time was wonderful," Rumeysa told us.
"She's the most gorgeous lady. I was waiting to meet her for a long time."
"I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me," Jyoti commented, "but I was so happy to look up today and see the world’s tallest woman."
Do you think your height is closest to Jyoti’s or Rumeysa’s? 🤔
Craig Glenday from Guinness World Records, who was there to greet them and present them with their ICON record certificates, told us:
“Guinness World Records is all about celebrating differences. By bringing together these amazing, iconic women, they can share their perspectives on life with each other and, also, with us.”
After spending the morning with her, Jyoti said about Rumeysa:
“I’m delighted that I’ve met [her]. She is so good-natured, and I felt very comfortable talking to her.”
But let’s get to know them a bit better…
Rumeysa
- She is from Türkiye, where she lives with her family.

- She also holds the records for the largest hands on a woman, the longest back on a living person (female) and the longest ears on a person (female).
- She was home-schooled and now works as a web designer. 🧑💻
Jyoti
- She is 30 years old from India.
