Animals are awesome! 🤩
They’re capable of amazing things and, here at Guinness World Records, we love to celebrate their achievements.
As we kick off the new year with all-new, record-breaking feats, let’s take a look back at the most impressive records set by our furry friends in 2024…
Sweetie the miniature horse
Sweetie broke a record with her glorious tail! 🐎
The tiny trotter officially has the longest tail on a miniature horse which measured in at 181.02 cm (5 ft 11.26 in) – longer than the height of the average person. 🫨
Sweetie lives in South Carolina, USA, with her owner Risa, and her tail, whose length is almost twice her height, trails behind her as she walks.
Capybaras are… larger than you think
You may have seen cute videos of them around the internet, but have you ever seen a capybara in real life? 🤩
These adorable rodents are big and friendly, they love swimming and they always hang out with their friends in large groups!
They are the largest rodents on earth, as they can easily reach the size of a Labrador dog. 🐕
Fun fact: capybaras eat their own… poo. 💩
But wait, there is a good reason for it!
🔎 Coprophagy, or eating poo, helps them digest food better in their tummies and make sure they get all the good stuff out of their food.
Bao Zi the skateboarding cat
This American Shorthair cat made history with his awesome skateboarding skills! 🛹
He broke the record for the fastest 10 metres on a skateboard by a cat in just 12.85 seconds.
What a superstar. 🥹
Do you have a pet? Do you teach them tricks?

He’s described by his owners as the “biggest softie” who will come running to get a hug from you... 🤗
Creole the chick
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To break a world record, of course. 😎
Cool chick Creole holds the record for the fastest time to complete an agility course by a chicken – just 1 minute and 2 seconds!
Creole and her chicken friends have many talents, from playing musical instruments such as the drums to doing back flips…
Leonard the basketball player
In just 1 minute, Leonard Lee Hanula dunked 22 balls into a hoop, achieving the most basketball slam dunks in 1 minute by a dog.🏀
Such a good boy!
The Border Collie from USA has set this record 3 times, always supported and cheered on by his loving owner Teresa…
Talk about dedication!

Amazing, right?!
Apollo the parrot
Apollo the parrot is a true genius! 🤩
When the 4-year-old African grey parrot identified 12 objects, including 'bug,' 'book' and 'socks', he set the record for most items identified by a parrot in 3 minutes.
But exactly how smart is Apollo? 🦜
Well, he is described as having the intelligence of a human toddler, as he recognizes colours, words and objects.
He can count, communicate clearly and answer complex questions!
Peanut Butter the gamer
Peanut Butter (aka PB) became the first dog to hold a speedrun record, by completing Nintendo’s 1985 platformer Gyromite in just 25 minutes and 29 seconds. 🎮
His proud owner told GWR: “This took years of training.
“I wanted to train him to do something special, when I realized as a puppy that he was much smarter than most other dogs I've seen.” 🧠
